Sun shines on TMS Environmental Project
Belgian Umicore Solar Team adopt TMS to optimise tyre pressure, reduce rolling resistance and improve range.
Fourteen motivated students from Groep T worked for a whole year on the first Belgian solar car: the Umicar I. They entered the World Solar Challenge in 2005 and despite the fact that they had little experience, they still managed to obtain a commendable eleventh place. The successful outcome of the project was due in part to the support from a number of enthusiastic companies, one of those being TMS. The car was fitted with sensors to ensure optimum tyre pressure and reduce rolling resistance. The Umicar I can now be viewed in the Car Museum (Automuseum) in Brussels.
